- The biggest advantage of studying English in a group at Los Angeles English School is that the group size is pretty small (up to 6 people), which allows everyone to speak & practice. On top of that, we use special techniques to make each student involved in the lesson & to get the most out of it!
Los Angeles English School has combined two best international approaches to teaching English as a foreign language - Direct Method & Communicative Approach, which allows students to understand native English speakers, and - more importantly - to speak English fluently after only a few months of having lessons. Direct Method - new vocabulary and grammar are immediately used in speech and, thanks to a special interview-and-review system, are quickly and easily acquired. Communicative Approach allows you to confidently express yourself both while speaking and writing in English. You can learn real-life spoken and official English starting from Beginner up to Advanced level only in a year and a half. You'll be able to communicate accurately and fluently.
We don't just provide you with tutors who do what they want to during their lessons. All our teachers are constantly being monitored by our Head Teacher!
- Grammar is often perceived as being something abstract and difficult. While it is possible to create such an impression, grammar is just something that we use every day whenever we speak or write. When we have thoughts that we want to articulate in spoken or written form, we use vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation systems to encode our ideas so that others will understand them.
- The aim of studying grammar has to be focused on the message and effective communication, and not on memorizing grammatical rules. Therefore, yes - you will be working on grammar. At the same time, we do not just learn the rules and do grammar exercises, but draw grammar into speech as much as possible. We use only the most modern internationally recognized approaches to present and practice grammar!
- The approach & curriculum of our school was specially developed taking into account the conditions of modern life. It is a modern approach to teaching English. Forget the phrase, "Sorry, I didn't prepare my homework for today. I'll learn this for the next lesson, don't ask me now plz..." We understand that a modern person is constantly in a hurry, so you learn mainly during the lessons. You must study here and now! The techniques we use allow to significantly reduce homework. At the same time, you get balanced home assignments - feel like you accomplished something superbly effective. However, if you don't have time for doing homework, do not worry - this is not a requirement!
- Having said that, it heavily depends on the type of course you are to take 🙂 In case of IELTS, TOEFL or other Cambridge Exams Preparation, you definitely have to do your homework because of the reading, listening and writing sections of the exams that require a lot of extra work.
- Our approach & programs are built according to international standards of teaching English as a foreign language, which allows you to completely immerse yourself in the English environment via Skype even at the very initial stage.

The main emphasis is put on speaking skills from the very first lesson - each lesson includes 70% of active communication between the teacher and each student (vocabulary & grammar are practiced through interviews: the teacher asks students questions using this vocabulary or grammar (she does not just make them up during the lesson; these questions have been carefully thought over by our best methodologists and are contained in the Teacher's Book)
